Oatmeal Choco Cookies

Oatmeal cookies are very favorite from kids to adults. These cookies are definitely healthier compared to cookies made only with all purpose flour. My family love these cookies with their soft and chewy texture. Besides lots of healthy rolled oats, you can add a lot of varieties like dry fruits(dried berries, figs, raisins),chocolate chips or chopped nuts (walnuts /almonds/peanuts).

I have baked these oatmeal cookies with some chocolate chips and brown sugar. You will be amazed to know that how easy they are to make and how delicious they are to relish.

Preparation time : 30 minutes

Baking time: 12 to 15 minutes

Difficulty level: Easy

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup  rolled oats
  • 1 cup  all purpose flour
  • 1 cup  brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup  soft unsalted butter
  • 1 tsp  baking powder
  • 1 tsp  cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 cup  dark chocolate chips
  • 2 tbsp  shredded coconut
  • 1/2 tsp  vanilla essence
  • 1 tbsp  honey

Steps

Sieve all purpose flour and baking powder. Keep it aside.

In a big mixing bowl add soft unsalted butter ,brown sugar and mix well.

Add egg and blend with the butter mixture.

Then add honey and vanilla essence.

Sieve all purpose flour and baking powder, add to the egg butter mixture along with cinnamon powder.

Mix with a spatula, add 1 cup rolled oats and chocolate chips. Incorporate well to form a soft dough.

Keep the dough in the refrigerator for 10 minutes so that we can handle it nicely.

Set oven at pre heat mode for 10 minutes at 170 degree Centigrade.

Take out dough from refrigerator. Make lime size balls out of the dough and place them in greased baking tray. Keep some gap between the balls, as they will be double in size while baking.

Bake them for about 12 minutes or till edges of the cookies become light brown in colour.

Take out the cookies and transfer them in wired rack very carefully, as hot cookies will be soft in texture.

Oat cookies will be ready to enjoy as they become cool. They will be little chewy in texture.

Note: be careful to handle the hot cookies. Otherwise they might break. You can spread one baking sheet in the baking tray before placing the cookie balls. It will help to transfer the cookies easily.
